5th in the 15 year old Babe Ruth World Series
Well, after a loooong summer and a record of 13 wins and 3 losses, the 15 year old Babe Ruth All Stars finished 5th in the World Series. The team of 15 year olds, family, and friends spent the summer in Altamonte Springs, FL, Monroe, NC, and Andalusia, AL playing the great game of baseball. The boys will have memories of the summer of 2007 for a lifetime. It was a great run.
Picture are of:

3: The sign on the lawn of the boy's host family
The last lag of the teams trip in Alabama was very interesting in that they spent the time living with host families. The families were really great and was a positive experience for each player. The Andalusia community put together an event that our boys and families will always remember positively.

Baseball Victory
Alan went to Ocala, FL to compete in the 13U All-Star State tournament. William went to Altamonte Springs, FL to compete in the 15U All-Star tournament. A great time was had by all.
Alan's team were not successful in winning any games but the family was very proud of Alan and his performances at the tournament. Alan pitched in two of the games and proved to be their best pitcher. He was even heard to be the calming force in the dugout, way to go Alan. The team played three games but was unsuccessful in winning any of them. The last game was their best game and only lost 6-4.
William's team won the State Championship. The team played very well and actually won all their games. William helped to turn a few double plays and made the last out of the last game, whew. The bottom of the last inning was very nerve racking because the score was 5-4. William and all his team mates are the 15U South Florida State Champions. It took them a few extra days because of the rain delays but managed to get the job done on Tuesday morning.
For those kids that have played with William since 9 years this has been 6 years in the making. The joy is also that some of William's old team mates played on the 14U All-Stars and they too were successful in winning the State Championship.
CONGRATULATIONS TO THE 14U AND 15U BABE RUTH SOUTH FLORIDA STATE CHAMPIONS!

Bermuda Vacation
A fun time was had by all, even Alan, in Bermuda. Alan, William, and mom went on vacation to Bermuda for 12 days. Unfortunately, dad was not able to go with us, not sure if he would have enough time from work. We stayed with our sister Marcia, with us in the "Pirate" picture.
We would like to take this time to 'THANK' everyone who helped to make our holiday an enjoyable one.
We went to the beach (3 times) and swam in the ocean with all the waves and the floating slides, visited the aquarium, visited dockyard, went to Harbour Nights, saw the Gombeys dance, went shopping in Hamilton, ate with a lot of friends and relatives, and met our many, many relatives, of course, what they did not know was that there were many relatives they did not meet, smile.
The plane ride home was the worst though. Unfortunately, the flight into Tampa was first delayed because the takeoff line was backed up and we had to taxi for about an hour. When we got close to Tampa the airport was closed due to bad weather. The pilot said that he was going to take us to Orlando because we were running out of fuel. The airport in Tampa was then open and on trying to land, it was discovered that some of the ground equipment was malfunctioning. The equipment was fixed and we landed. Again unfortunately, the grounds crew had not been cleared to come back on the tarmac and we had to wait in the plane for about half hour. During this time Alan and I prayed and Alan was convinced that we were going to die. At 12:33am, two hours late, we finally disembarked the airplane and headed home with dad.

Battle Scars
Alan and I both had injuries last week from baseball.
I started out on Thursday trying to break up a double play when the shortstop throw the ball and it hit my right hand just below the thumb. I thought it was okay until I tried to pick up and throw the ball, it was then I realized how much in pain I was. Coach took me out of the game and our trainer, Tanya, wrapped up my hand and put ice on it. Fortunately, the hand was not broken but badly bruised. I have been having ultrasound treatments with Tanya after school. It is still bruised but much better and I am able to play with no pain.
Alan thought he would join the walking wounded on Saturday. Alan was sliding into home plate when the pitcher came running down and accidentally stepped and turned on his right hand. Unfortunately, at this stage the boys are wearing metal cleats. The pitcher's cleat actually slit open Alan's hand, the wound was wide open and you could see right into his hand. Mom took Alan to the walk-in clinic, the doctor gave him 7 stitches on his hand, as seen in the picture. He cannot play baseball for about 10 days but will be in the school play this weekend. Alan is the dog catcher in the play 'Annie Jr.'.
Symonds/Edwards Visit
We were so excited to visit with Uncle Derrick, Aunt Neesh, Dimitri, and Tanah this weekend. The Symonds' came to Orlando for a weeks vacation. Unfortunately, the weather was bad this weekend and we could not go up until after lunch. We drove up to Orlando spent some time in the hotel room and then went to Barnes and Noble bookstore. After spending some time at the bookstore we went on over to the Orlando Ale House and had a good dinner.
It was great to spend time with the family. Mom changed Tanah's diapers, fed her, and put her to sleep, it was a great time. Alan and Dimitri were instant friends.
A great time was had by all.

William is catching baseballs and Alan is catching dogs!
Hi All,
We hope all is going well in 2007 for each of you.
William and Alan are doing really good thus far this year.
William did manage to get his Learners Permit in January. I am not sure if mum can handle this one, whew! William will have his Learners for a year before he can go for his full license. He is learning with dad, smile.
William has also made the Braden River High School baseball team. They had their first pre-season game on February 6th which they won 2-0. William ran for the pitcher and scored the second run. BRHS baseball team is very young because the school is only two years old they do not have a senior class, so to win this game was a great boost for the team's morale. William will be one of the kids who will play for both JV and Varsity, he is really excited. The good part is that the boys also have to turn in a progress report each week from their classes to the coach. William is doing really good in this his first year in HS.
Alan does not start baseball till March. He is having this time to concentrate on school work, yeah. Alan has taken this time to look in a new direction, he tried out for a minor role in the school play, Annie Jr. He got the part of the Dogcatcher. He is looking forward to this role.
Mum and dad are doing good keeping busy with work. Dad is helping coach a Rookie baseball team and volunteering at Babe Ruth. Mum is doing a class at USF "Big Bang to Ice Age", substitute teaching, and volunteering at our schools. They both try and keep up with our schedules, boy they are busy.
